The activities of this department

1. To develop safe drinking water supply system among the residents of different unions and municipalities of the upazila.
2. To develop public sanitation system.
3. To create awareness and motivate the people to have cleanliness in their surroundings including personal cleanliness.


 
Regular activities

1. Inspection of pre-installed tube wells / water sources and operation of temporary useless tube wells by tube well mechanic. In this case the supply cost of spare parts or spare parts has to be borne by the beneficiary. That is, only technical assistance is provided.
2. Proper implementation of installation of tube wells / water sources in different Union and Municipal areas through contractors subject to receipt of allocation every financial year.
3. Subject to receipt of allocation for installation of productive tube wells for safe drinking water supply in municipal areas, construction of high reservoirs, construction of Iron Removal Plant (IRP), installation of pipelines of different diameters and conveying to the municipal authorities.
4. The latrine set provided by the contractor was to be distributed free of cost among the poor and needy families as per the rules subject to receipt of allocation every financial year. Many times installing community latrines through contractors.
5. Subject to receipt of allocation in the financial year, construction of latrine set by office manpower (Mason and Labor) and sale at fixed price and deposit in government treasury.
. Free testing for the presence of arsenic, iron and chloride in different types of water sources and reporting the results to the beneficiaries.
. In case of any adverse situation in the country such as cyclones, tornadoes, floods, etc., safe drinking water and sanitation system should be kept in operation as per government guidelines i.e. installation of latrines and temporary tube wells / water sources.
         Apart from this, according to the government decision, to fulfill various responsibilities properly and to cooperate with the government in all possible matters.
